bryanlallen > At the trailhead, Lodgepole. Damp ground and overcast. My route led northward towards Cahoon Gap and Silliman Pass. Time stamps on first few photos are 12 hours retarded from local time (d'oh!) so this photo was actually taken just before noon on August 1st.

bryanlallen > One of my favorite mid-altitude Sierra plants, Chamaebatia foliolosa, commonly called: Bearbrush, Kit-kit-dizze, Tarweed, and Mountain Misery. Very fragrant (take some home and put the stem in water and it will stay green for weeks), and you can even make a type of tea with it which Native Americans favored as a disease cure.

bryanlallen > Trail junction just north of Lodgepole trailhead. I was walking towards Twin Lakes.

bryanlallen > Streamside mosses and sparkling water. Photo time stamps from this point forward are correct.

bryanlallen > This watercourse is one of the branches of Silliman Creek.

bryanlallen > With a small amount of care and caution, the waters of the Sierra are totally safe to drink without any form of treatment. Slurp, ahhh!
